Highlights

This Classic Safari is perfect for all of you wishing to experience the majesty of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest Peak which you will enjoy seeing on your horizon. This trip starts at Amboseli National Park: one of Kenya’s most popular parks, named from a Maasai word meaning “salty dust”. This is one of the best places in Africa where you will be able to see vast herds of Elephants up close. From here we head to Tanzania, where we spend our next few days in Tanzania’s premier Northern game parks being the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater and the Tarangire National Parks amongst vast herds of animals and birds. Wild Camping with a difference as you are accompanied by experienced guides and safari chef.

Tour Details

We begin this adventure in the Amboseli National Park with game drives in the park in search of Elephants. You will find that your evenings are spent in front of a campfire with the majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro in the background. Whilst here you will also have time to visit a Maasai village.

From here we drive you into Tanzania via the Namanga border passing through Arusha town to Lake Manyara National park. This shallow, alkaline lake’s main attraction includes its rich bird life, tree climbing Lions and pods of Hippos, also hosting thousands of Flamingos at certain times of the year. We set up camp located in the settlement known as Mto Wa Mbu and if we have time you will be offered the choice of some activities such as Bike Tours, nature Walks, market tours and a village walk the following day.

The next couple of days will be spent in the great Serengeti National Park game driving through Tanzania’s largest park covering nearly 14,736 sq km. It is here where you see many of the 2 million Wildebeest, several other Hoofed species, including Zebra, Thomson’s Gazelle, Impala, Topi, Grants Gazelle, Kongoni, Eland, Kirk’s Dik Dik, Klipspringer, Roan, Oryx, Oribi, Waterbuck, Buffalo, Giraffe and Warthog and of course a string of predators such as Lions, Leopards, Cheetahs, Hyenas, Golden Jackals and Bat Eared Foxes.

We continue with our game viewing and drive south to the magnificent Ngorongoro conservation area via the historical Olduvai Gorge, which cuts through rock beds layered in time sequence from 2 million years ago. It is here that humanoid bones have been found dating back to over 1.75 million years including a direct ancestor of modern man.

We set up camp high up on the Ngorongoro Crater rim and enjoy waking up to the magnificent scenery surrounding you. There is a morning crater in search of the over 25,000 large animals including the Black Rhinoceros, Lions said to be the densest known population in East Africa, Leopards, Elephants and Mountain Reedbuck.

After another early morning game drive in Tarangire, we head to Arusha town for dinner and an overnight stay before heading back to Nairobi, where some of you finish your trip. Alternatively, some will continue on to Zanzibar; the “spice island.”
