We begin our tour in Samburu Game Reserve with its unique group of animals only found in the North of Kenya before traversing the Chalbi Desert towards the largest desert lake in the world (Lake Turkana). You will come across numerous tribes who call this remote region their home; from the vibrant Samburu tribe to the Rendille, Turkana, and one of the smallest tribes in Kenya (El Molo people). Our final destination before returning to Nairobi is the small settlement of Ngurunit where we enjoy the scenery and adventure at the base of the Ndoto Mountains.

Early morning pick up from your Nairobi residence or hotel as we depart towards the central highlands. Look out for Mount Kenya as we approach Nanyuki town making a brief stop at the equator for you to enjoy some selfie moments. We break again at one of the malls in Nanyuki for you to buy lunch and some last-minute supplies before continuing the journey towards Isiolo town. Arrive Samburu in time for a late afternoon game drive concentrating around the Ewaso Nyiro River; renowned for herds of Elephants wading across.
Samburu game reserve is home to the “special five.” These animals are only found in the North of Kenya; being the Grevy’s Zebra, Somali Ostrich, reticulated Giraffe, Gerenuk, and the Beisa Oryx. Be sure to look out for them on your game drive as well as Lions and various other wildlife.

Morning Game Drive in the park and visit Buffalo Springs where you can enjoy a refreshing dip in the natural spring before departure towards Marsabit town and environs. Look out for the magnificent Mount Ololokwe (Samburu sacred mountain) before arriving at Marsabit National Park. We visit Lake Paradise and Little Lake. Here, an indigenous forest and a desert come together to create the most compelling landscape on earth. The dense forest in the park is also home to
Elephants, Kudu, Water Buck, and a variety of birds. You may visit the town on foot in the late afternoon as well. Overnight at a budget en-suite hotel (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner included).

Early breakfast before we depart the cool environs towards Loiyangalani as we cross the Chalbi Desert with its myriad of dunes and semi-desert landscape. Arrive at the great Jade Sea in the late afternoon and visit Loiyangalani on foot. Overnight at a budget en-suite hotel (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner included).
Optional activities include; visit the Desert Museum, El Molo village visit, enjoy a sunset Boat Ride on the lake.
After breakfast, we begin the long journey towards Ngurunit driving past the Turkana Windfarm. Ngurunit is an oasis surrounded by the Ndoto Mountains and home to Samburu and Rendille tribes. The Ndoto Mountains span 40 kilometers in length; rising up to 8,648 feet with Mount Poi being the iconic feature that you can spot from Ngurunit.
There is the option for you to enjoy a short walk up the Ndoto streams to the Natural Swimming Pools for a swim and slide as well as hire a quad bike to dash around the sandy terrain! Overnight at the budget community-owned Bandas (shared washrooms) (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner included).
Early rise to catch the first light of day as it hits Mount Poi with its steep and bare rock face offering spectacular scenery. Enjoy a final breakfast as we make an optional visit to the women’s’ basket project to buy some souvenirs before beginning the long journey back towards Nairobi. We arrive in the early evening with lasting memories of your trip up North (Breakfast included).
