Itinerary

Day 1 (28 Jan) Nairobi to the Maasai Mara

Early pick up from your Nairobi hotel stopping briefly at the escarpment to enjoy views of Mount Suswa and Longonot rising from the Rift valley floor. We arrive Maasai Mara in time for lunch at Semadep camp. Outside the Maasai Mara Game Reserve lies the small eco lodge camp, 2 Kms away from the main gate to Maasai Mara (Sekanani Gate) that offers you an untamed wilderness experience. Enjoy a wilderness escape deep in the Masai Mara. Comfort in the bush in the Masai owned Semadep camp.

We arrive in time for lunch followed by an afternoon game drive in the park in search of the Big five. Meal plan: – Lunch & Dinner

Day 2 (29 Jan) Masai Mara

Full day game drive with packed lunch exploring the Masai Mara. Game drives in the Mara are rewarding all year round and you are likely to come across a pride of Lions, Cheetahs, Elephants, Zebras and Hippos. Wildebeest traverse its plains during their annual migration in between July and August. The landscape has grassy plains and rolling hills, and is crossed by the Mara and Talek rivers where Wildebeest migrate through.

You also have the option of visiting a Masai village to get an understanding of the Masai way of life and customs.

Meal plan: – Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 3 (30 Jan) Masai Mara to Hells Gate; Naivasha

Early breakfast before we drive back towards Narok town arriving Hells Gate National park for you to enjoy an optional activity; cycling in the park. You may hire the bikes from the park gate and enjoy cycling among the zebras and giraffes.
For the more adventurous; there is the option of enjoying rock climbing the “Fischers tower” accessible for even the most basic of rock climbers.

We overnight at Carnelleys Bandas.

Meal plan: – Breakfast, packed lunch & Dinner

Day 4 (31 Jan) Naivasha to Amboseli

Early morning breakfast followed by an optional 1-hour boat ride on Lake Naivasha in search of hippos, pelicans and other bird species before the long day ahead. We depart back up the escarpment, the outskirts of Nairobi and down to the foot hills of Mount Kilimanjaro where Amboseli national park is located. We settle into our accommodation at AA Amboseli lodge located just outside the park.

Meal plan: – Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 5 (1 Feb) Amboseli

After a dawn game drive, we return to the lodge for breakfast. The rest of the morning is spent at leisure or by the swimming pool. Lunch and final game drive in the late afternoon beneath the snowcapped peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
At 329 sq km Amboseli is a small park and lacks the profusion of animal species found in the Mara, but the landscape provides limited cover so we have better chances of seeing some of the larger predators. There is also a small seasonal lake that comes to life after rains with the vibrant shade of pink from flamingoes!

You also have the option of visiting a Masai village to get an understanding of the Masai way of life and customs.

Dinner and overnight back at the lodge.

Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch & dinner

Day 6 (2 Feb) Amboseli to Emali station (OR Nairobi)

Enjoy a final breakfast before we depart the lodge with drop off at the Emali train station to catch the 0931am train service to Mombasa terminus which arrives at 1400hrs.

Alternatively; return to Nairobi with the vehicle arriving in the afternoon. Drop off in the town center. End of services.
