This trip is ideal for nature enthusiasts looking to combine Big Game viewing with a once in a lifetime experience to share time with Mountain Gorillas; from the ‘Jewel’ of Kenya’s Wildlife viewing area, the Maasai Mara on fabulous game drives in search of the Big Five to Uganda’s Bwindi National Park tracking the gentle giants in the wilds of Africa’s Rainforests.

Your adventure begins when we head towards the Maasai Mara, regarded as the ‘Jewel’ of Kenya’s wildlife viewing area, where you spend the next couple of days enjoying fabulous game drives, guided nature walks and if time a visit with the local Maasai to learn a little more about their culture. 

From the Maasai Mara to Entebbe in Uganda and depending on your time of arrival you will be given the choice to take some well deserved rest or choose some optional activities including: A city tour; Visit to the Fishing Village, Biking; Visit to the Botanical Gardens or a half day visit to Ngamba Islands.

We move from here to the Queen Elizabeth National Park with the massive Ruwenzori Mountains, as a backdrop, you will be able to enjoy your first evening game drive in search of the park’s Lions, Leopards, Buffalo, Elephants, Antelopes, Hyenas, Baboons and a host of birds’ species. The following day takes its onto the Kyambura Gorge, which overlooks the Great Rift Valley, and then an afternoon’s boat ride on the Kazinga Channel to watch the animals coming to drink in the early evening.

The following day is spent driving through the Ishasha Area of Queen Elizabeth National Par,k a memorable place that combines a Riverine Forest, a Savannah Plain and an Equatorial Forest. Here we take time to look for the famous Tree Climbing Lions and the large herds of animals that live here, before we head to the Bwindi National Park, home to the endangered Mountain Gorillas.

The last day is spent in search of endangered Mountain Gorillas. Leaving early in the morning you hike with experienced Guides and Trackers in search of these majestic animals in this thick untamed rainforest, their natural habitat.

Itinerary

Day 1 Nairobi to Mara

Departing Nairobi in the early morning we drive towards The Escarpment, where we stop to enjoy views of the Rift Valley with Mount Longonot and Suswa in the distance, and then head down to the floor of the Great Rift Valley via Narok. On arrival, you will be able to take a leisurely lunch before heading out for an afternoon Game Drive. ( Lunch & Dinner included)

Day 2 - 3Mara

Today there are early morning and late afternoon game drives, and in the interlude during the hottest time of the day when the animals are relaxing beneath the trees, you may wish to either simply relax back at the camp pool, visit an authentic Maasai Village or enjoy a Nature Walk around camp. If you wish you have the choice to spend the entire day on a game drive with a picnic lunch returning to your accommodation in the early evening hours. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner included)

Day 4Maasai Mara to Entebbe

After an early breakfast, you will be transfered to the airstrip to catch your flight to Entebbe. Arriving mid morning uou will be met by our Safari Guide and taken to your hotel, where you have the choice to either relax at the Lodge or take a visit to the Botanical Gardens or visit the Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner included)

Optional Activities: Entebbe City Tour; Visit to Botanical gardens, Experience a Fishing Village; Uganda Reptile Visit and Ngamba Sanctuary

Day 5Entebbe to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, you will start your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Enjoy the long drive through the green countryside and many photo opportunities. You will also stop at the equator along the way. Upon arrival in the park, you will be able to enjoy an evening game drive to explore the park, searching for Lions, Leopards, Buffalo, Elephants, Antelopes, Hyenas, Baboons and a host of bird species in the Savannah. Queen Elizabeth National Park’s diverse eco system of Grassy Plains, Tropical Forest, Rivers, Swamps, Lakes and Volcanic Craters is home to an incredible abundance of wildlife. Game drives in this park, with the massive Ruwenzori Mountains as a backdrop provides excellent opportunities to explore. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner included)

Day 6Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early breakfast you will drive to Kyambura Gorge overlooking the Great Rift Valley for Chimpanzee Tracking in the forested part of Queen Elizabeth National Park. This area is a favourite for primates especially Chimpanzees. The walk will be led and guarded by rangers who will provide you with information you want to know about the primates and animals you may encounter en route. After lunch in the park you will be taken on an afternoon boat ride on Kazinga Channel where you will be able to watch the animals on the river banks as they come down for their afternoon drink. The rest of the afternoon is spent relaxing back at the lodge. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner included)

Day 7Queen Elizabeth to Bwindi National Park

After breakfast we drive to Ishasha Area of Queen Elizabeth National Park where you enjoy a Game Drive in search of the famous Tree Climbing Lions and large herds of animals. The scenic beauty, the size of the Euphorbias and combination of Riverine Forest, Savannah Plain and Equatorial Forest makes this a memorable place. Afterwards we depart to Bwindi National Park for overnight at a lodge. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner included)

Day 8Bwindi to Lake Bunyonyi

You begin your Gorilla Trek in the early morning, setting off into the tangled and mist shrouded forests with your Guides. These Trackers are very experienced at locating the Gorillas: they find the nest the family used the previous night and then follow their tracks from their. The search for these majestic animals is through thick untamed rainforest and you will find yourself scrambling over mossy rocks and through deep undergrowth which can be very arduous at times. Nevertheless we can assure you the encounter is more than worth the effort. watching the Gorillas in their natural habitat is a memory that will last a lifetime. The experienced Ranger Guides will willingly share with you their extensive knowledge of history and lifestyle of these magnificent animals. From here we drive to Lake Bunyonyi where you spend this evening. ( Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

Day 9 Lake Bunyonyi

We head back to Entebbe today, stopping en route for lunch, arriving back in the city, it is either a flight back home or another night spent at a local hotel. ( Breakfast & Lunch included)
