Samburu Flying Package from Nairobi as we take you on a short 1-hour journey by plane to Samburu, where on arrival you will enjoy the wonderful scenery and game en route to your Lodge/ tented camp. The following day is spent discovering the Samburu’s scenery, its wildlife and its lifeline, the almost perennial Ewaso Nyiro River. The river and its’ brown water (from which its name derives) dictates the landscape; when it flows its wide banks are lined by swathes of green attracting an amazing variety of wildlife. By the side of the river the forest shade is home to Elephant, the Long-Necked Gerenuk, Reticulated Giraffe and the occasional Leopard.
Samburu Flying Package starts with an early morning departure from Wilson Airport and after a short flight we arrive in Samburu, where you will be met by your guide and transferred to the lodge/ tented camp viewing game enroute. After settling into your rooms and a relaxing lunch at the accommodation we will head out on a late afternoon shared game drive in search of the Samburu’s “Special Five.” These are Grevy’s Zebra, Ostrich, Reticulated Giraffe, Generuk and Beisa Oryx which are only seen in North Kenya having adapted to the arid conditions. (Lunch & Dinner included)
Main Activities: Game Drive and swim
After an early breakfast you head out to enjoy your shared morning game drive, back for lunch and perhaps a Spa Treatment and/or a Guided Bird walk. Alternatively; just relax by the pool which is a welcome relief in the heat of the day. You will enjoy another shared game rive in the late afternoon followed by sundowners & overnight back at the lodge. You may also visit a vibrant Samburu village to understand their culture and way of life. The Samburu, just like the Maasai are a semi-nomadic people. They are still very traditional and have not parted with old customs as compared to the Maasai. Cattle, as well as goats, sheep and camels, play a vital role in the Samburu way of life and culture.
(Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner included)
